We are an industry of entrepreneurial people and creative ideas. Many have more then one company under there belt doing the same thing, but they just market them differently to appeal to a broader clientele. Is this the right thing to do? Who knows... Can a DJ Company really become a marketing firm or production co.?

Steam whistle says it best in their commercials - Do one thing really really well! 5th Element Events has been open for 6 years executing corporate events, product launches, galas and more. We have built this company on 'THAT' platform, never steering away from the corporate realm. When asked if we do social events, we say no, but we always direct individuals to the right companies. We can do weddings, but it's not our absolute strength. Instead of opening up multiple streams within your company's structure, it would be beneficial to partner up with a company that compliments your weaknesses and then promote together. If asked about weddings, we direct clients towards a company that will excel and enjoy it. Why try and do weddings when they take up the mind share of our corporate goals.

It's time to open the door to creative partnerships! The Toronto event industry is HUGE. Working together to build a seamless experience for clients would be more effecient then opening four separate ventures to try and handle EVERYTHING that comes your way. Why work at 25% capacity on four outlets when you can work 100% on your main focus. Don't lose mind share on something you are not completely able to execute. Steam whistle is a fantastic Toronto beer. Should they make energy drinks? Why would they?

Over the past year since I have come on board as the Marketing Manager at 5th Element Events, we have built strong relationships and partnerships with many companies and organizations that help us lock business and develop return clientele. Not only have these relationships flourished, but they have become friendships in an industry that has made enemies in the past. By these partnerships, we are able to design events with a whole arsenal of elements that we may not have at our disposal normally and therefore lets us be as creative as possible! We enjoy working with other teams and we enjoy what we do which makes our staff happy, clients well taken care of and keeps our business profitable.

For partnerships and promotions, please contact :

Jared Golberg

Marketing Manager

5th Element Events

jared@5thelementevents.com

416.241.4440

Are we too chaotic to really focus in todays world landscape?

H1N1 influenza, financial crisis, unemployment, stimulus plan, war, terrorists, green houses gases, climate shift and the rapid evolution of new technology.

Social Media and you!

The above is a list that can scare the most hard minded individual. We have come of age into a world of fatal distractions that easily overwhelm the masses. With everything happening, we as individuals are beginning to focus on multiple digital platforms in order to push our careers/businesses forward. We choose to connect with as many people as possible through social networks and new technology causing a deep lapse in focus and judgement as the phrase "all eyes on me" make it extremely hard to find time we desperately need to stay rejuvenated (not a total bad thing). News portals have really taken control of these platforms in order to bombard us with overwhelming content and 'Breaking News'. What is reality? Where does it end? Who to follow? who to meet?

It's my opinion that we have given birth to a young generation of nano-taskers without ability to execute due to overwhelming distraction. A nano-tasker is someone who tries to multitask a TON of things at once, but has NO idea how to finalize/execute ONE task. How many applications are open on your computer right now? MSN, Email, Twitter, Facebook, Blogs, news portals, Blackberry Messenger? who to listen to? How to prioritize? We have so much information at our fingertips more then ever before and it is apparent that some (Not all) are not using it properly. In order to really strive and succeed, you have to decipher the code and realize that you are not dying of influenza, the world is not collapsing and that there are ways to use these portals and outlets to the best of their ability in order to help you achieve desired goals.

We are at a crossroads!

Being a part of an event design firm forces our staff to dive into the land of 1's and 0's for hours of research daily to stay on top of trends, resources and of course - events. It's important to Tweet and Facebook in order to build a network of awareness and also read mounds of online portals that have very different opinions. We have developed a strong system of directories and portal lists that we constantly stay on top of to gain our business perspective - and very rarely do we detour from that path. Through consistency, our team has been able to dig deep into the virtual world and maintain a large 'form' of data without falling ill to the jargon of insanity that takes individuals away from the end result. It takes one 'tiny url' or breaking news story to divert attention away from our goals, but we take pride in staying on task and use the large amount of information properly and in return, release that information to our network that actually can make a difference. Twitter has become a focus for our firm and through it, we have met a large sum of individuals who have great validity in what we do. We keep connected, we take responsible steps to be an insider and responsible Tweeter!

It is naive to 'ask' for responsible reporting from major networks, blogger and individuals. I'm sitting here with the ability to say what I want via the Internet with some capability to provide a large amount of information through my network. I would say It's important that we as individuals learn how fear blocks judgement. Read, learn and comprise conclusions, but make sure the information you are consuming makes sense and does not add to the heap of fear we already feel. By this, you can see how to protect yourself and focus on what truly matters. There has been a rise in the number of corporations that are going green. That is incredible and also creates a community that is working towards a common goal! Now, what's the next step of corporate and individual responsibility that can help progress the next generation towards greatness?

In conclusion, individuals have an opportunity to really take hold of new social media and run a path that can open doors, start relationships and even help sales. It's just a matter of staying away from the clutter and by CHOOSING to create and deliver a responsible/professional outlet for all to take part in!

Cheers

Jared Golberg

Marketing Manager for 5th Element Events

jared@5thelementevents.com

Welcome to our world!

First off, I'd like to welcome you to the 5th Element Events blog.

We have been around since 2003 in the Canadian event landscape and have built fantastic relationships with our fellow peers, vendors and venues. By this blog, I hope to achieve something new in the evolution of the eventworld - Not just connect our brand to people in the land of interweb, but connect and build knowledge, awareness and ideas within our network that continues to grow.

Yes, there are portals like Twitter (Which has Tipped in the past week or so), Facebook and others, but the habit most get into is to add as many people as possible to show your worth. Common mistake, but still apparent. I want to take this time to extend the conversation away from our social network (Twitter does only give us 140 characters, ha!) and really connect with the people our team has met this past year.

I am the Marketing Manager from 5th Element Events and have spent most of my life in music and entertainment. I started my career at Ryerson University in the Radio & Television Arts program, graduating in 2002. I worked in surround sound music development after graduation before securing a job at Wind-up Records Canada at Warner Music as the Marketing Coordinator. I had the pleasure of working with such artsists as Finger Eleven, Evanescence and Seether while helping build awareness for them in the online world (I really did a lot of the online marketing initiatives working closely with the Director of Marketing). Great job, great fun and a huge amount of knowledge and expertise was taken away from this experience!

Touring logistics and events really caught my eye through out my adventures at Wind-up and last year I took the job here at 5th Element Events. Here we executive large corprate events, galas, fashions shows and product launches (not limited to) and really dive deep into concept design and experiential exeperience. Whether it be decor, lighting, staging or even entertaiment, our goal is to ignite our clients dreams into reality by engaging their guests in unique experiences, sights and sounds. A VERY creative world using VERY creative professional minds.

As the industry grows and we connect with more and more people, I want to provide something other then just our services. I want to provide 'US'. We have connected well with many online portals and organizations this past year and by this we have created community and city awareness programs like our 'We Give Back' campaign which helps children in need go to camp and war veterans experience a life long wish. It is truly important to provide more as a responsible company and as the spring time progresses into summer, I look forward to expanding our network to you. It's important to stay connected with our peers and planners and open a dialogue on trends and happenings!

I hope this finds you well. Keep in touch, stay creative and contact us with any questions you may have. We are always here to chat!

Jared Golberg

Marketing manager

5th Element Events

416.241.4440

www.5thelementevents.com

jared@5thelementevents.com

Find us on Twitter: 5ElementEvents
