Staying the coarse and doing what you know!

As Steam whistle says - Do 'ONE THING' really really well!

It has come to my attention that many event companies in Toronto are expanding their businesses into different revenue streams/markets to try and create more drive in a time of shrinking budgets (uch, I hate saying this - Enough about the economy already). We are an industry of entrepreneurial people and creative ideas. Many have more then one company under there belt doing the same thing, but they just market them differently to appeal to a broader clientele. Is this the right thing to do? Who knows... Can a DJ Company really become a marketing firm or production co.?

Steam whistle says it best in their commercials - Do one thing really really well! 5th Element Events has been open for 6 years executing corporate events, product launches, galas and more. We have built this company on 'THAT' platform, never steering away from the corporate realm. When asked if we do social events, we say no, but we always direct individuals to the right companies. We can do weddings, but it's not our absolute strength. Instead of opening up multiple streams within your company's structure, it would be beneficial to partner up with a company that compliments your weaknesses and then promote together. If asked about weddings, we direct clients towards a company that will excel and enjoy it. Why try and do weddings when they take up the mind share of our corporate goals.

It's time to open the door to creative partnerships! The Toronto event industry is HUGE. Working together to build a seamless experience for clients would be more effecient then opening four separate ventures to try and handle EVERYTHING that comes your way. Why work at 25% capacity on four outlets when you can work 100% on your main focus. Don't lose mind share on something you are not completely able to execute. Steam whistle is a fantastic Toronto beer. Should they make energy drinks? Why would they?

Over the past year since I have come on board as the Marketing Manager at 5th Element Events, we have built strong relationships and partnerships with many companies and organizations that help us lock business and develop return clientele. Not only have these relationships flourished, but they have become friendships in an industry that has made enemies in the past. By these partnerships, we are able to design events with a whole arsenal of elements that we may not have at our disposal normally and therefore lets us be as creative as possible! We enjoy working with other teams and we enjoy what we do which makes our staff happy, clients well taken care of and keeps our business profitable.
